Canyon High School Becomes COVID-19 Testing Site

In partnership with Comal County, the Texas Division of Emergency Management and Texas Department of State Health Services, Comal ISD’s Canyon High School will serve as a one-day drive-through testing site for anyone who would like to receive a free COVID-19 test. Testing will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 30, for anyone who makes an appointment next week.

“Since this unprecedented situation with COVID-19 began in March, we have been working closely with Comal County as well as other public and private entities to ensure we have a coordinated response,” said Comal ISD Superintendent Andrew Kim. “This testing site partnership is a great example of how our working together benefits the residents of Comal County.”

The site will test between 50 and 60 people. Before receiving an appointment, residents will be screened for the following symptoms: fever and/or chills; cough, dry or productive; fatigue; body aches or muscle or joint pain; shortness of breath; sore throat; headache; nausea, vomiting or diarrhea; nasal congestion; or loss of taste or smell.

Those needing a test must call 512-883-2400 or visit www.txcovidtest.org beginning the morning of Tuesday, April 28, to register and receive an appointment time.
