Comal ISD 2025 Graduates Choose Military Service

June 5, 2025 - Whether they are following in the footsteps of family members or pursuing their own path, 63 recent Comal ISD graduates have committed to serving in the U.S. military either through enlistment, accepting an ROTC scholarship or by appointment to a military academy.

Pieper High School graduate Reagan Turman is the first student from PHS to receive an appointment to a military academy. She will attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy where she will be a part of the track team.

“It’s an honor to be the first Pieper student to receive an appointment to a military academy,” says Turman. “I am proud to be an example to others and hope to inspire others to serve.”

During her four years at PHS, Turman was involved in the Navy National Defense Cadet Corps, track team, Student 2 Student, student council, Key Club and the National Honor Society. Her involvement helped her gain leadership skills which she now hopes to further develop at the Merchant Marine Academy.

“I have been drawn to serving my country, and through the academy, I can choose to serve in any branch of the military upon graduation,” continues Turman whose grandfather served in the U.S. Air Force. “I want to be part of something that is bigger than myself, and I want others to look up to me as an example.”

Turman will study logistics and security at the academy with plans to join the Coast Guard in search and rescue, eventually putting her leadership skills to work with the government.
